One of the jewels in the Ross industry…..The New Ross Boat Yard with its history dating back 50 years the boatyard or The Barge Factory as it was known as in the 1970s built vessels…. destined for all regions of the globe (UK, Norway, Holland, Cuba, Sudan, Nigeria and even Bermuda) employing some 370 skilled workers at the height its powers in 1977.

– These days the yard is in the safe artisan hands of Michael and Stephen Kehoe and offers boat sales, services, storage facilities…. shipbuilders, welders, fabricators artisan tradesmen all on-site along with a 50 Tonne travel hoist  and also contains one of only three ‘Dry Dock’ in Ireland measuring a whopping 70 meters in length.
Throw on the upkeep and maintenance of the Dunbrody Famine Ship to the soon to be restored The Galley Cruising Restaurant these guys look like they still have a huge part to play on our River Barrow.
