THE NORMANDY DELEGATION VISIT TO NEW ROSS

After two years of virtual events, (because of…well you know!) The town was delighted to have the opportunity to host to President Hervé Morin and the Regional Council of Normandy (our closest EU neighbour) – Composed of representatives of Normandie Tourisme, Ports of Normandy and institutional sector of the Normandy region and a special privilege to have the French Ambassador His Excellency Vincent Guérend also in attendance.

This will contribute in validating possible points of cooperation in tourism, such as hosting, heritage evaluation, identification of thematic tourism (expanding the visitor experience). Exploring future partnerships, learning opportunities through educational exchange possibilities and what we can learn from one another to continue advancing student achievement and well-being. While noting also the importance of our shared interest in renewable energy development…working together to ensure a clean energy transition.

The visit included several key points; The newly designed laneways, the (soon to be) Norman Gardens, The Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience and Murals of New Ross. This exploratory mission will contribute in validating possible areas of cooperation in tourism fields, develop and share experiences with the region of Normandy and our Norman heritage in New Ross.
